AI for private healthcare and clinics

Private practices and hospital groups need every patient call answered well, and the same standard of service at every branch. Prime Assist answers patient calls in the caller's own language, and we build custom software for private hospital groups.

Challenges we help with

  • Calls that arrive when the reception team is busy with the patients in front of them.
  • Patients who would rather speak in their own language.
  • Keeping the same standard of service across every branch of a group.
  • Workflows in a hospital group that off-the-shelf software does not fit.

What is changing for private clinics?

Patients expect to reach a clinic by phone, message or online at any hour, and AI in clinics now comes with clearer rules on safety and data. What is in use now, and what is coming, with the source for each.

In use now

  • Inspectors expect AI to be governed

The Care Quality Commission's guidance on AI in GP services asks providers to show that their AI meets regulatory requirements and good governance, with evidence of due diligence and risk assessment.

  • Health data stays in the UAE

UAE law requires health data to be stored and processed inside the country unless one of the exceptions set by ministerial resolution applies, so clinics there need patient systems, and the AI attached to them, hosted in the UAE.

  • Responsible AI rules for Abu Dhabi providers

The Department of Health Abu Dhabi's Responsible AI Standard sets minimum requirements for licensed healthcare providers using AI, including transparency, explanations, data privacy and a safe fallback when the AI fails. A revision is due in October 2026.

Coming next

  • Prior authorisation through standard interfaces in the US

From 1 January 2027, US payers covered by the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization rule must offer prior authorisation through standard FHIR interfaces, a year after shorter decision times began.

  • AI medical devices under the EU AI Act

AI that is, or is part of, a medical device assessed by a notified body becomes high-risk under the EU AI Act from 2 August 2028, the date set by the Digital Omnibus. Clinics buying such tools will need their makers' evidence.

  • Patient records shared across the EU

Under the European Health Data Space regulation, patient summaries and e-prescriptions are to be exchanged in a common European format from March 2029, and images, test results and discharge reports from March 2031.

What we offer

AI agents for private clinics and groups

Agents for the front desk and the back office, alongside Prime Assist on the phones. Each one handles admin, and anything clinical goes to a clinician.

Front desk

  • Recall and reminders agent

Contacts patients when a check-up, recall or follow-up is due, by the channel they prefer, and books them in.

A person approves: The recall rules, which your clinicians set.

  • Treatment plan follow-up agent

Follows up patients who have not yet booked the treatment their clinician proposed, answers questions about appointments and costs, and books them in.

A person approves: Questions about the treatment itself go to the clinician. It never recommends treatment.

Billing and operations

  • Insurer authorisation and billing agent

Prepares pre-authorisation requests and invoices for private medical insurers from the clinic's records, and tracks each one to payment.

A person approves: A clinician or billing lead checks every request before it is sent.

  • Group reporting agent

Brings bookings, cancellations, calls and payments from every branch into one weekly report, and explains what changed.

A person approves: What the report says to the board, and any action it suggests.

Every agent is logged, tested before launch and after every change, and given only the access its task needs. How we keep agents in control

The systems they connect to

A clinic's agents have to work with its practice management system, its phones and the insurers it bills. These are the systems they need to reach.

Dental practice systems

Dentally, Software of Excellence, R4.

Clinic and private GP systems

Semble, Cliniko, WriteUpp.

Insurers and billing

Private medical insurers' provider portals, Card payments, Xero, QuickBooks.

UAE health information exchanges

Malaffi (Abu Dhabi), NABIDH (Dubai), Riayati (Northern Emirates).

US hospital systems

Epic, Oracle Health.

Through HL7 FHIR R4 and SMART on FHIR.

We connect through each system's own interfaces, its open standards and the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and confirm each connection at the start of a project. Naming a product here does not mean we are its maker's partner.

Standards and safeguards

  • Clinical risk management under DCB0129, with our own Clinical Safety Officer.
  • The same clinical safety process for private providers as for the NHS.
